Domestic Spying, The CIA Leak, Jose Padilla, Abu Graib, Harriet Meyers

The big news in 2005 has been the extreme overreaching of the Bush Administration on a multitude of different issues. Basically, in the past, the Congress and the people have leaned in the direction of the Bush philosophy of "Trust Us, We know what's best". Finally, at years end, the Congress and the People have had the courage to stand up and say, "You need Oversight". And trust me, this is not the making of the alleged Liberal Media. This new notion is the making of IRAQ, KATRINA, SCOOTER, and CHENEY. The unfortunate thing in all this is that we were so deep in the "911" trance that all of these things are just coming to light. This is a call to arms so to speak for the American people to get more involve in current events, politics and news. If some of these things would have come to light before the last election, we may have a different commander and chief right now.

To Be....Or....Not To Be..(In Iraq)......That is the question

Folks, I think we have all come to a consensus. Even though going into Iraq was not the smartest thing we have ever done, we are in now and we have to at least look like we are in the lead of the free world. I think there are a few issues that need to considered going forward.
..... I don't think it is Democrats that are making the U.S look week, it the overall war plan itself. The fact that we bungled an invasion of a small country like Iraq, exposes our inherent weekness. Think about it, Japan and China have militaries with 500,000 and 1 million soldiers respectively. And here we are fooling around with 168,000 troops fighting no more than 30,000 rebels and 300,000,000 people back in the states are antsy at the fact that we lost 2,200 troops. If you haven't figured it out yet, our weekness is the fact that we don't handle death well. Handling death is at the heart of the discussion due to the fact that the people we are up against take pride in death. These are two extremely different mindsets that pushes us closer to the number one item........WINNING. To put it plainly, we view winning as killing more of them when compared to them killing us. They view winning as killing more of themselves in an overall effort to sway the masses to continue to take pride in death and hate us. When the Irans and North Koreas of the world see this, I'm sure it emboldens them to continue with their international antics. Finally, we screwed this war plan up royally, so even with the elections and an eventual troop drawdown. It will be another 20 years before the world fears our might again. And with the fear of our might, so goes our ability to shape the world into this DEMOCRACY(you know, the shining city on the hill thing)...... ...............

THIS POLITICAL TRIPLE-PLAY SHOULD SEE REPUBLICANS TO THE DOOR.

Strike ONE

-- The US border with Mexico is still as porous as ever and has been given so much lip service by this administration that it actually makes us less safer than we were before 9-11. This is unfathomable. Any terrorist with half a brain could easily get to us through California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.

Strike TWO

--The response to hurricane Katrina, whether you put the blame on local government or the Feds, was an American Tragedy. In addition to the uncovering of more "RACE" issues, the federal gov't won't own up to its culpability on this one. We had the Arabian Horse Foundation president running FEMA while uncovered cronyism at the highest levels. And I think the most painful lesson in all of this is the fact that the Feds just don't feel the average person's pain. Also, no one talks about the situation of communication. The Gov't was unable to talk to the State and Local Heads because of mass cellular and landline failure(ala NYC during the 9/11 attacks--haven't we been there before)...... which brings us the the Strike Out....

Strike THREE

--The 9/11 Commision came out this week with a report card for the Bush Administration. And what do you think they got......drumroll please..........."F,F,F,F". If their main goal is to keep us safe from TERROR and STAY THE COURSE in the war on TERROR, how can this all be true. The answer is, they are all true and all of these things speak directly to the hypocracy of the Administrations policies and most of all the lip service we have been fed for the last 3 years.

STEEEEEEERYYYYYYYYK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MURTHA for PRESIDENT

While watching Hardball this evening...........IT hit me. Our party needs to take a serious look at a Murtha ticket for the white house. Whether you agree totally with him or not, you have got to like his straight forward dialogue. A military vet with a from-the-hip attitude. Though the "Redeployment" measure was pre-empted quickly, we have to give him the credit for changing the dialogue around the nation. Wesley Clarke couldn't do it, John Kerry couldn't do it, Max Cleland couldn't do it, but for reasons that are becoming more evident, Murtha is becoming a rock star and real leader in this party. By the way, where in the hell has Howard Dean, the alleged leader of our party........what a mistake he will prove to be. Further, We cannot cling to principles so far left(Deanian) that we appear to be bleeding heart lunatics.......more on Dean later. I know that history does not bode well for congressmen, but we need to figure out a way to make this happen............Developing........... GM. Gainey

“THE IRAQ EXPERIMENT”

As of this print, the death toll of American troops in Iraq stands at 2096. The number of soldiers wounded in battle is at a staggering 15,568. The almost forgotten war in Afghanistan is on a steady diet of death and destruction as well, with the dead and wounded at 248 and 654 respectively. When these gruesome numbers are put in context with the total number of troops deployed (approx. 175,000) it comes out to about 1 in 10 soldiers either returning in a body bag or returning seriously incapacitated. The numbers are quite startling and the truth of the matter is that if these numbers were extrapolated to 11 years, which was the length of the Vietnam War, they would be eerily comparable. Armed with these facts, we have the luxury of applying hindsight to issues related to war and their ramifications. Armed with these facts, we are better able to have and open dialogue with some of our critics about this “IRAQ EXPERIMENT”. We should no longer use the term “War”, instead we should label this excursion what it really is.

Bush - Level with Us

President Bush - Forget about cowboy pride and sit down with the American people at a round table and come clean with us...........I know that will never happen and that is precisely the reason we need to make a change. Somewhere along the way we become a nation that has chastized dissent of the Bush administration. This was made possible by a very aggressive political strategy by the "Republican Powers That Be". With all of this in mind, the Democratic Higher-Ups "Must" move forward with a 2-part attack.......First, putting forth a comprehensive agenda addressing social and fiscal issues that are important.......Second, playing the same information game as good as the Republicans have been playing.
