MURTHA for PRESIDENT
While watching Hardball this evening...........IT hit me. Our party needs to take a serious look at a Murtha ticket for the white house. Whether you agree totally with him or not, you have got to like his straight forward dialogue. A military vet with a from-the-hip attitude. Though the "Redeployment" measure was pre-empted quickly, we have to give him the credit for changing the dialogue around the nation. Wesley Clarke couldn't do it, John Kerry couldn't do it, Max Cleland couldn't do it, but for reasons that are becoming more evident, Murtha is becoming a rock star and real leader in this party. By the way, where in the hell has Howard Dean, the alleged leader of our party........what a mistake he will prove to be. Further, We cannot cling to principles so far left(Deanian) that we appear to be bleeding heart lunatics.......more on Dean later. I know that history does not bode well for congressmen, but we need to figure out a way to make this happen............Developing........... GM. Gainey

Anti abortion candidate for President, and Democrat too?
Well if a Repubican wins in 2008, it will be anti abortion plus pro war. There are a lot of evangelical as well as Catholic voters who will not be put off by Murtha's principled stand on the value of human life- in peace or war. The very question of principle on unpopular or seemingly "inconsistent" positions is appealing to many of the electorate: remember Ross Perot. For radical feminists this would be a Faustian bargain they can not accept. Hey, but are they 5%? Why should they define the litmus test? Besides maybe the Catholic Church with 2000 years of moral experience is more savvy of human rights including anti war and anti capital punishment positions thanwe arrogant modernists are?So still he is 74, a bit overweight etc. Modern medicine puts his life expectancy easily over 8 years so let's give him as much of a break as Reagan. Murtha for President! We need a real person for a change.
I think the idea of even considering putting a man in office that is likely to kill over at the thought of having to lead an army into a buffet line never mind war, and leaving the office to a Vice President who could be one of many candidates and such trying to fight a Republican lead Congress to get another vice president that would have similar ideas that align to the parties, could lead to a lot of problems, than would be solved by having a man of his age in office.
